Since the start of 2021 the IV Team has run a virtual fitness club, mostly just for fun, but also to support the team's health and wellbeing. Joining is is completely voluntary but we're a competitive bunch so it soon became a fiercely contested monthly battle for fitness supremacy between the teams.
Always ready for a new challenge, we decided to turn all that energy into a way to further support the fantastic work of the David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation (DSWF). And the 'Godalming to Guinea' Fundraising Challenge was conceived.
We believe in making a real, positive impact on the environment and the world around us. That means reducing our carbon footprint, not just offsetting it, donating money through 1% For The Planet to worthy environmental causes and also promoting positive environmental behaviours wherever we can. You can find out more about our initiatives and achievements in this area on our Environment page.
All that aside, we are a team of animal lovers and DSWF is a charity that is important to us all. The 'Godalming to Guinea' Fundraising Challenge has been an opportunity for us to combine several positive things to do a lot of good. Not only did the team get fitter and spend more time outdoors enjoying the summer, but we got to also make that effort count by contributing to the incredible work done by DSWF every day. Win/Win.
During July, August & September this year, the IV team walked, ran and cycled with the aim of achieving a joint target of covering the 4657 km distance between Godalming and Guinea and raising funds for DSWF in the process. We covered the distance and raised £4060 for the charity.
If you'd like to support DSWF with us, you can donate via Just Giving here.
We're already planning our next challenge, so why not stay up to date on what we're going to do next by following us on social?
